I have been finding video on Utube and Googlevideo etc and downloading it for teachers to put on their whiteboards. Up to now I have successfully used www.keepvid.com – it works most of the time, is easy to use, and offers downloaded video in either avi or flv format [best for smartboards].

This week in my copy of PCPro there’s an advert for Ashampoo clipfinder - it’s free from www.ashampoo.com [select to downloaded the clipfinder]. It downloads a small programme onto your hardrive which then allows you to search for topics and view in a player. You can then easily download the videos.

There are about 8 or 9 preset video channels to search through, or you can try to do what keepvid does – download from a pasted URL.

Its free, like a lot of ashampoo stuff. Trouble with Ashampoo is that keep emailing you adverts about their products.
